Event Summary:
Managing a diverse workforce is increasingly recognised as a key factor in improving efficiency, productivity and overall business success. Globalisation has accelerated and reinforced the need to embrace diversity. In the global market place, the pace of change is faster than ever before. Organisations are striving to keep one step ahead of competitors to gain and sustain market share and to meet the increasingly discerning and sophisticated demands of their customers. Demographic trends mean that both employee and customer profiles are themselves changing.

For employers, diversity and inclusion in the 21st Century is about more than ending discrimination – it is about effectively engaging all employees towards meeting business objectives and allowing them to utilise their talents to the utmost – unlocking the potential of all employees for competitive advantage.

This presentation and discussion will touch on some key facts about the business case for diversity and the diversity journey to date of Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR).

Our speaker, Elaine Keight, joined JLR from the parent company Ford where she spent 5 years managing a number of high profile organisational change projects on a local, European and global basis. Prior to this, she worked for the French Chamber of Commerce as a consultant to French companies undergoing organisational change. Before her transition into the private sector, Elaine worked for many years in the public sector, becoming Assistant Chief Executive of Oxford City Council prior to her move to France.
