Event Summary:

The public sector has experienced a remarkable flurry of activity as the rush to meet UK government targets for providing online services. Often lacking the skill sets to to design and implement secure systems, Council IT departments have relied on vendors to provide e-payment solutions that safeguard citizen's identities and credit/debit card details. But just how secure are these systems?

This presentation by Tony Green, IT Security Consultant, Woodside (IT) Consulting Ltd, highlights some of the nasties that lurk in some of the vendor-supplied solutions they have tested. He will highlight just how bad the problem can be, what you can do to identify problems and describe a plan of action for eliminating them. And he won't let you go away thinking that the problem is one that applies only to the public sector. Issues presented here are ones that could easily apply to all applications and in all areas.
