Event Summary:

Tony Proctor, Principal Consultant / WARP Manager, University of Wolverhampton, will speak about the challenges faced and the progress made in the development of WARPs since the E-Government Minister came to Wolverhampton at the end of 2006 to launch WARPs in the West Midlands.

West Midlands WARP is operated by the University of Wolverhampton in partnership with West Midlands Police and supported by many other organisations. It is a community / sector based service where members who have common interests and problems can receive and share up-to-date advice on the latest information security threats, incidents and solutions.

A large volume of system vulnerability information exists to help protect IT systems. Keeping on top of this is very time consuming. WARP membership provides the opportunity to remain vigilant to vulnerabilities, to share best practice and receive expert advice within a confidential environment.

A lack of trust or fear of disclosure often inhibits the sharing of sensitive information about problems with Information Security. Sometimes, computer users simply do not know who to turn to. WARPs help to address this and much more.
