Wayne Horkan is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Sun Microsystems in the UK & Ireland; as the Technology Leader for the UK & Ireland he represents the UK & Ireland Technical Community & provides leadership to the customer facing Technology & Business Consultants in Sun's Global Sales & Services Organisation (GSSO).

Wayne will be presenting three Enterprise Architecture Case Studies taken from major customer engagements, including an Enterprise Architecture team which led its company into a 70+ million pound 'pitfall', the use of Enterprise Architecture to define a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and an example of how much Enterprise Architecture is about achieving the proper Governance model.

Wayne has had an extensive career in IT / IS implementations for 14+ years: in former roles with Sun, Wayne successfully established Sun's technical leadership position and relevance in support of significant and strategic Government Programmes, along with substantial work in the finance and utilities markets. This included, and still includes, Enterprise Architecture definition and implementation, which Wayne champions in the EMEA sector.

Prior to joining Sun, Wayne was Chief Technical Architect for Harrods Online, and also spent time as a Technical Consultant at a Systems Integrator (SI), a Senior Software Engineer at an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) & a Computer Programmer before that.
