Event Summary:

Speakers : Jane Marshall, Director of Strategy and Planning, University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust; and David Thorp, Director of Research and Professional Development, The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Marketing has often been viewed as anathema to the ethos of the NHS, but as the organisation inches towards becoming a patient-led service, marketing has a crucial role to play in making this happen. In this, the first of two events aimed at bringing together practitioners from both disciplines, we will explore marketing from the point-of-view of the NHS, and the NHS from the point-of-view of commercial marketers.

Jane Marshall, Director of Strategy and Planning at the hospital, will look at the challenges facing NHS Trusts in the era of patient choice.  David Thorp, Director of Research and Professional Development at The Chartered Institute of Marketing, will then consider the NHS from the perspective of the marketing profession.

The evening will conclude with a Q&A session with Jane and David. A buffet and refreshments will be served prior to event, from 18:30 onwards.
